Macaques on TV

Stefano spoke live at the popular TV show GEO (Tuesday, February 22nd) about his latest work with the Sulawesi crested black macaques shot on assignment for National Geographic Magazine. The story 'A Fight to Survive' is published in the March issue of the Magazine. Recently, the IUCN sets the crested black macaques as among the world’s 25 most endangered primates.

Macaques on National Geographic!

I took the first images to this odd-looking macaque during 2007. Eight years later, I've been returned to Indonesia, on assignment for National Geographic, to document the plight of the Sulawesi crested-black macaque (Macaca nigra). Today, I'm very pleased to announce that the story is finally published in the March issue of the Magazine. I'll never forget what I've seen and photographed during this assignment. Take a look to the images and you'll understand.

Winner - Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2016!

I'm pleased to announce that, once again, one of my photograph is among the winners in the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition! A very special image indeed: I took this photograph – 'Spirit of the mountains' – near my home, in my beloved Valsavarenche in Italy’s Gran Paradiso National Park.

I created this image during a long-term assignment for National Geographic magazine, and it is displayed in my latest book Il sentiero perduto (Ylaios, 2015). With this photograph I wanted to capture the magic of this wild, wonderful region – the mountains of my childhood, for which I'll keep fighting for more protection.
